OMAHA, Neb. ? When traveling to Omaha this time of year, it's all about covering the College World Series. With many coaches in town, it's also a great time for scuttlebutt.

Though we've heard new news ? but not confirmed ? on the head coaching searches at Auburn and Florida Atlantic, we received some interesting news Monday morning, as it came to our attention that UCLA assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Brian Green will join coach Gary Henderson's staff at Kentucky.

Green was instrumental in the Bruins' putting together several impressive recruiting classes. In that sense, he surely will be missed by UCLA.

Green's departure to Kentucky was confirmed by UCLA coach John Savage when reached by phone on Monday.

"Brian did an outstanding job both with his recruiting efforts and his on field responsibilities during his time at UCLA," Savage said. "He did a great job for us in his four years at UCLA."

With Green's departure, UCLA begins the process of finding a new assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Though several names come to mind, it will be interesting to see whom the Bruins target at the end of the day.

We will have more on UCLA's search for a new assistant coach.
