TUESDAY'S MATCHUPS
Monday's recaps: Miami 7, Florida State 5; Georgia 4, Stanford 3
LSU VS. RICE

Time: 2 p.m., Eastern, ESPN2

The skinny: After North Carolina thwarted its potential rally Sunday night at the College World Series, LSU hopes to rebound in style against Rice Tuesday afternoon.

While LSU dropped a heartbreaker to UNC, Rice was involved in the shocker of the first round, putting together a dismal performance against Fresno State.

On the brink of elimination, LSU is expected to send senior right-handed pitcher Jared Bradford to the mound, while Rice is slated to counter with senior right-hander Chris Kelley.

Bradford is 10-4 with a 4.50 ERA in 86 innings of work. He has also struck out 75 and walked 20, while opponents are hitting him at a .300 clip.

Kelley has had a good year for the Owls and enters the contest 5-1 with a 3.28 ERA in 68 2/3 innings. He has also struck out 59 and walked 19, while opponents are hitting him at a .312 clip.

With both teams needing a win to stay alive, both pitching staffs must rise to the occasion.

FRESNO STATE VS. NORTH CAROLINA

Time: 7 p.m., Eastern, ESPN2

The skinny: The Cinderella story continues Tuesday night, as Fresno State is slated to take on balanced North Carolina.

While the Bulldogs hope to build off an impressive rout of Rice in their CWS opener, the Tar Heels hope to do the same after taking care of LSU in impressive fashion.

Fresno State is expected to start junior right-handed pitcher Justin Miller, while North Carolina will send junior right-hander Adam Warren to the mound.

Miller is 6-3 with a 4.88 ERA in 79 1/3 innings of work. He has also struck out 75 and walked 45, while opponents are hitting him at a .268 clip.

Warren enters the game with a 9-1 record and a 4.07 ERA in 77 1/3 innings of work. He has also struck out 68 and walked 40, while opponents are hitting him at a .269 clip.

It's the new team on the block versus the team that has been to Omaha three-straight times.
